September 2024

Phil Smith

Phillip and his late wife were members of Kings Forest Bowmen from the 1980’s and were both, at times, members of our committee.

They both used to shoot regularly at EFAA national competitions and were part of the KFB group that shot all around the world at IFAA competitions, with both of them winning many tournaments at home and abroad.

Sadly, several years ago, Zelda passed away. For a while it seemed Phil lost his taste for field archery, but he stayed a member of the club and gradually regained his pleasure for the sport. He started to travel with KFB again to national competitions and some local classification shoots where he shot many styles, often joined by his son Adam.

A couple of years ago Phil became unwell and had to go into a home to be cared for; sadly he passed away earlier this month. His funeral details are below:

Monday 30th September at 11:00am

St Peters Church

West Row

IP28 8PD

Following the service people are invited to his wake at Judes Ferry, West Row, IP28 8PT

If you are going to attend would you please let Rosie (rosiekfb@aol.com) know as soon as possible so the family can cater accordingly.

Rest in peace Phil. We shall always remember the laughs we had at the club and on all the field archery courses we shot together around the world.

Alec James.

April 2024

Spring Championships

On the Friday 4th May before the Spring Champs  there will be some work required i.e putting up marquee to prepare or the two day event, if you have some spare time it would be appreciated, also if you are not entering over the weekend by helping with car parking and marshalling etc.  The practice area will not be available only for competitors on both days.

On Sunday after the event if club members could stay behind and help clear up and take down marquee.

March 2024

Work Day

Before the Spring Champs on May 5th / 6th there are some targets to be pasted and some course maintenance to be carried out so the club looks at it best.

This will be two weeks after Easter on Saturday  13th April starting at 9.00 hrs, It would be appreciated members could give some time to the club if only for a couple of hours – every little helps the club.

Would you please let Ron know if you are able to come along.
